Odyssey
6 years ago, I couldn’t drive...
@FuzzyFilmsProduction
Today, I live and travel in my Defender.
I had always dreamt of eventually ditching airplanes, rejecting the idea of “flying over” places, and travelling more slowly, gradually, deeply. Overland.
The seed had been planted a long time ago, but it was on my 30th birthday, as I hiked through the Zagros Mountains of Iran with the Bakhtiari nomads, that I sealed the deal in my head: it was time to change the way I travel. It was time to go overlanding. And so, the new goal became clear very quickly. To get a 4x4, equip it, and set off on a free, undefined journey.
Just GO
I JUST BOUGHT MY DREAM TRUCK, AND I’M MOVING INTO IT FULL-TIME.

INTRODUCING: EXPEDITION WILD.
I've set my heart on driving all the way from Mexico City to Alaska, and then continuing the journey southward, all the way to Ushuaia on The Pan-American Highway.

A YEAR SINCE A DEFENDER BECAME “ODYSSEY” AND I BECAME AN “OVERLANDER”.
I have no idea whether I’ll make it all the way south to Ushaïa. I’m not sure if this feeling of anxious excitement will ever go away. I don’t know where this road will take me, but this road is where I’m meant to be.

ODYSSEY 2.0 HAS ARRIVED.
Converting my truck once again - a Year on ! So much more storage. A pop-top roof. Lots of space for a full-size Vilk. A fridge. And great solutions for electronics. A pantry. An air con unit. Lovely new light cushions. Decorative nods to the original build. And… the aesthetics of it all!

THIS IS THE ALASKA LEG
OF EXPEDITION WILD.
The most extraordinary of road-trips: Seattle, Washington, to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and back. Head spinning with countless memories. I would drive this road again, and again, in a heartbeat.

USA FROM WEST TO EAST
Last year, I drove from the southern border of the USA to the northernmost driveable point in the country. This time, I was travelling from California all the way to the Eastern Coast!

Living freely means accepting that you can never really find yourself, but that the real journey is in the search. Living freely is saying yes to not knowing. This is what living freely means to me.
Expedition WILD is Evolving.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the last 2 years of intense overlanding, it’s that this lifestyle feels best to me when I get to do it expedition-style: in intense spurts, diving into adventure mode for weeks at a time… but not full-time.
Because overlanding is really, very intense. In all the good ways - of course. But it also takes a toll on your body and your mind.
So, in order to maintain my love for it long term, we’re going to make this an on-and-off kind of relationship. Where I get to balance between living in my truck, and living in homes with real kitchens and actual showers.
